Join Moonshine Brewing Company and Socca restaurants as they team up once again to present one crazy rib cook-off and contest.  The 3^rd Annual Rib-A-Que Smoke-Out on Saturday, September 25^th will feature up to 16 different Chicago restaurants competing for the title of the “Smoke-out Champion” and the coveted Gilded Grill. Pros vs. amateurs, white tablecloth restaurants vs. neighborhood BBQ joints, baby back ribs are the muse!

Here’s how it works: Competing chefs will set up in the Moonshine parking lot as they showcase their barbeque skills with baby back ribs, plus one side dish.  Discriminating foodies will taste several unique and savory rib recipes and help determine the overall winning ribs along with the event’s star-studded celebrity judges.  Winners are chosen for both Popular Vote and Judges Vote. Prizes include cash for each category, dining gift certificates and of course, bragging rights to the Gilded Grill!  Participants include Small Bar, Citizen, Socca, Chicago PD, Moonshine, Smoke Daddy, 50/50, Honky Tonk BBQ, Sheffields, Timothy O’Tooles and more…

Featuring live music all day from The Carpetbaggers & The Hoyle Brothers, this rib extravaganza is the perfect way to button-up summertime activities in Chicago, taking place from noon to 6pm on September 25^th.  Tickets are $25 in advance here or at Moonshine, $35 at the door.

Where?: Moonshine Restaurant & Brewery 1824 W Division St Chicago 60622 Happy 7th Anniversary to this great restaurant located in Chicago’s Wicker Park. Service mirrored the well prepared dishes. Chris (pictured to my left) runs a tight front end of the house and Brew Master Reverend Bob Kittrell (single thumbs up in photo) is totally into his craft. If more people had passion like Rev Bob does for brewing, we’d experience a happier planet.

I didn’t meet the chef on this visit but WOW this burger totally rocked! Naturally but not overly sweet apples balance the Onion rings, ON the burger just like you did as a kid with potato chips on your sandwich… just notched up for the adult pallet. I wish I had the afternoon off to longer enjoy my seat by the window. Go there and enjoy the summer eating out or creating your own version of Burger Awesomeness.
